In a first-of-its-kind initiative, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced that an Industry Summit will be held in Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency, this November. The move aims to attract investment to the Vindhya region of Madhya Pradesh and promote the state as a preferred industrial destination.

Investment Interest from Varanasi Industrialists

During a meeting with entrepreneurs in Chakghat (Rewa), 17 industrialists and representatives from the Ramnagar Industrial Area (bordering Varanasi-Chandauli) pledged plans to invest Rs 1,000 crore in the Rewa district. Investors cited the growing economic potential of the Vindhya region and Madhya Pradesh’s attractive industrial policies as key motivators for their interest.

Dr. Yadav announced that the upcoming industry summit in Varanasi would focus on showcasing “Brand MP” and encourage business partnerships between Madhya Pradesh and entrepreneurs from eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Focus Areas and Development Plans

The Chief Minister encouraged investments particularly in stubble and food processing industries and highlighted the availability of ample land in Mauganj and Teonthar districts. He also inaugurated and laid the groundwork for several developmental projects in the Vindhya region:

  • New Industrial Area: 400 acres in Teonthar.

  • Healthcare Upgrades: Expansion of Teonthar Civil Hospital from 50 to 100 beds.

  • Educational Infrastructure: Construction of a new ITI.

  • River Development: Plans for a river corridor along the Tamas River.

  • Renewable Energy: Bhoomi Poojan of a ₹125 crore Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant by IOCGPS Renewable Pvt. Ltd., aimed at purchasing crop residue from farmers, generating additional income, and reducing stubble burning.

Vindhya Region: Emerging as the Energy Capital

Dr. Yadav highlighted the Vindhya region’s growing contribution to energy production in Madhya Pradesh, emphasizing its potential as an industrial and renewable energy hub. With the upcoming summit in Varanasi, the Madhya Pradesh government hopes to strengthen ties with entrepreneurs from eastern Uttar Pradesh and catalyse holistic regional development.

This initiative reflects the state government’s proactive approach in bringing investment to underdeveloped regions, creating employment opportunities, and supporting sustainable growth in central India.
