Sree Narayana Guru’s Teachings Promote Coexistence of Diverse Cultures, Says Kerala Governor

Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Sunday highlighted the enduring relevance of Sree Narayana Guru’s teachings, emphasizing their focus on coexistence and harmony among diverse cultures. The Governor was speaking at the 171st Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi celebrations held at Sivagiri Mutt in Varkala.

Governor Arlekar praised the Guru for teaching society the importance of living together in peace. “There are different cultures and practices in society. Guru has taught us about coexistence. That is what we need to practise today. Only then can we progress and truly celebrate this anniversary,” he said.

Drawing on lessons from the Mahabharata, the Governor recounted how Arjuna was guided by Lord Krishna when faced with moral dilemmas about fighting his own kin. “When culture comes under attack, people may feel uncertain about the right path to take. In such situations, we should follow the teachings of the Guru, which will lead us in the right direction,” Arlekar noted.

He further stressed that Sree Narayana Guru’s teachings transcend geographical boundaries. “There are Guru's followers even outside the country because his principles have no limits. They are meant for the entire world. His teachings are a treasure for humanity. We should be proud that such a holy soul lived among us,” the Governor added.

The celebration served as a reminder of the Guru’s vision of unity, equality, and harmony, demonstrating that his messages remain timeless and universally relevant.
